A Very Nice Wooden based 25cm High Green Verdite carving of a buffalo beneath a tree, on a wooden display stand. The Back of this piece is left Natural and the front intricately Diamond tooled Sculpted.
Verdite is a light to dark green Serpentine-like mineral dating back 3500 million years ago. This beautiful green stone of Africa comes from The Barberton Greenbelt which starts as Verdite, morphing a little further along the Mountain Range into Bud Stone and then changing into Green Chert and Swaziland Jade. (Swaziland Bloodstone is a little further again in the same Mountains on Verdite is the term used for a Fuchsite based rock discovered in South Africa, but the deposits extends in Zimbabwe.
