The thermostatic plate opens at 70°C (158°F), directing oil through the cooler only after the engine has reached operating temperature. Documented oil temperature reduction under sustained track use is approximately 15–25°C compared to a non-cooled car running the same session. Total oil volume added by the cooler and lines is approximately 0.5 liters, account for this when calculating your oil capacity after installation.

Why FA20 Oil Temperature Is a Track Concern

High oil temperature is one of the primary concerns for FA20 track use. Oil thins at elevated temperatures, reducing its ability to maintain a hydrodynamic film between moving parts.
