Hij nam fotografie lessen bij Elsie Neulnder Simon, die de concentratiekampen niet zou overleven. Toen zijn ouders na de Kristallnacht besloten om te vluchten naar Zuid Amerika, ging Helmut zelf naar Singapore. Daar werkte hij onder andere als persfotograaf voor een krant. Na

Na vele reizen naar Europa en klussen voor Vogue, verhuisde hij begin jaren zestig naar Parijs. Hier zou hij de volgende decennia als modefotograaf voor de Franse Vogue werken.

Als geen andere fotograaf, speelde Helmut met de grenzen tussen modefotografie en erotiek. Zijn foto’s zijn dan ook erotisch getint, prikkelend en uitdagend. Hoewel hij veel tegenstand ondervond vanwege zijn erotisch getinte werk, zorgde Newton voor een nieuw startpunt in de modefotografie en was hij een groot voorbeeld van velen.

Op het moment is er in Berlijn een Helmut Newton Foundation fotografie museum, waar veel van zijn werk te bewonderen is. Ook is een gedeelte van zijn werk te zien in het Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.

Is it worth the price? that's a question that only you can answer for yourself. I mean, it's alpaca - which isn't exactly cheap, and it's nice and warm. The shape is a little odd - it seems a bit loose - so might be better for bigger heads or bigger hair.
