Blackmagic Hyperdeck Extreme Control

This dedicated control panel is designed to transform a modern recorder into a familiar, high end broadcast deck. By adding traditional transport controls and a precision search dial, it provides operators with the tactile workflow they expect from legacy VTR systems, while retaining the speed and flexibility of file based recording. When paired with the matching recorder, the result is a complete, professional deck solution suitable for broadcast facilities, archives and live production environments. 

The front panel layout closely mirrors classic broadcast designs, featuring clearly labelled transport buttons, timecode display and deck status indicators. A large metal jog and shuttle wheel with electronic clutch allows precise frame accurate navigation, fast shuttling and smooth clip positioning. This physical feedback makes long sessions more comfortable and reduces the learning curve for operators transitioning from tape based systems.

A powerful built in editor enables automated deck to deck ingest workflows. Using familiar in and out point editing, operators can control both a legacy playback deck and the recorder from the same panel. Once edit points are set, the controller automatically cues and plays the source machine while recording the selected section. This approach dramatically simplifies the digitisation of tape libraries and helps preserve valuable archive material. 

The internal control router allows simultaneous management of up to eight separate devices using industry standard RS‑422 connections. Recorder and player selection buttons make it easy to switch between machines, enabling complex multi deck workflows from a single surface. Compatibility has been tested with a wide range of broadcast decks, including one inch C format, Betacam SP and Digital Betacam models, ensuring seamless integration into existing facilities. 

Designed for professional environments, the unit supports both internal AC power and external 12 V DC via a four pin XLR, making it suitable for fixed installations and mobile setups. It can be rack mounted alongside the recorder, creating a compact and elegant broadcast control solution that bridges the gap between traditional tape workflows and modern file based production.
