Le Coste di Monforte is gelegen in het zuiden van het Barolo-gebied. De gaarden liggen als een zeker amfitheater ten opzichte van elkaar met de rivier de Alta Langa als het podium. Een rijkelijk boeiend en pittoresk stuk landschap in de Piëmont. 

Het wijngoed, dat tussen 2000 en 2003 in Monforte d’Alba door Diego Conterno werd opgericht, is eigenlijk veel ouder. Want Diego was al 20 jaar daarvoor actief met zijn neven Claudio Claudio Conterno en Guido Fantino. Tegenwoordig wordt hij geholpen door zijn zoon Stefano. Op de wijngaarden groeien nebbiolo, barbera, dolcetto en nascetta. Sinds 2006 werd er al biologisch en deels biodynamisch gewerkt op de wijngaarden. Pas vanaf 2017 zijn alle wijnen biologisch gecertificeerd en vanaf jaargang 2019 ook DEMETER (biodynamisch).

Zijn Barolo le Coste di Monforte, is er een met grote finesse.  2018 was een erg nat jaar. De vele sneeuw en hevige regenbuien in januari compenseerde enigszins de droogte van het voorgaande jaar maar samen met de snel stijgende temperaturen in mei zorgde dit bij veel boeren voor problemen in de gaard. September daarentegen vormde de perfecte rijpingssituatie voor de Nebbiolo druiven met warme dagen en koele nachten. Met de keuze voor een late oogst, pas in de tweede week van oktober, is de 2018 Barolo er een van elegantie met een goed uitgebalanceerde aciditeit en uitgesproken aroma's.  Het bekende anijs in de neus en de zo kenbare rozen en kersen van de Barolo. Lekker stevig belichaamd en met mooie rijpe taninnes en toch nog zo charmant. Zachter dan de bekende 2013 en 2016 Barolo's maar met een kwaliteit van vér, vér boven gemiddeld.

Great for the entire family but expensive
So far so good. The brand of boxers we had been buying changed their style and construction so we needed to find an alternative. These have held up well so far to multiple weeks of frequent washing and wearing from the entire family. We did size up from the usual 6/M we normally buy and ordered large to prevent the legs from rolling up which worked out great. Our daughter likes the length and how soft the fabric is for wearing under skirts and gym shorts and liners stay put without moving or leaking as another reviewer mentioned. Our son says they are comfortable and fit well being just supportive enough without being constrictive. We all agree that there seems to be not enough fabric in the back as they tend to be much tighter across the backside than the front and that also causes the waist band to ride lower in the back than the front. These have better seam placement than some brands we tried with no seam across the lady bits and no seam down the middle of the back side so they are more much comfortable but the cost is also much higher and that is why we're only giving it 4 stars. These will stay in the rotation until we find something cheaper that both us and the kids like.
