Betekenis uil wanddecoratie

Voor de Grieken stond de uil symbool voor wijsheid. De Griekse godin Pallas Athena stond voor lucht, wijsheid, kunst, krijgskunst en vrede. Pallas Athene en de uil werden vaak met elkaar vergeleken doordat ze allebei prachtige ogen hadden. De Romeinse variant van deze godin heette Minerva. De uil van Minerva stond symbool voor kennis, wijsheid en scherpzinnigheid. De uil heeft een alziende wijsheid, omdat hij ook in het donker kan zien. Door het grote belang van de uil stond dit wijze dier op oude Griekse munten uitgebeeld en staat er ook een uil op de achterkant van de Griekse euro. Als wanddecoratie straalt de uil ook vooral wijsheid uit en is daarom een echte blikvanger in elke kamer.


Minimalistische wanddecoratie

Minimalistische kunst is ontstaan in de jaren zestig in de Verenigde Staten en is ook snel overgewaaid naar Europa. Bij het minimalisme wordt altijd uitgegaan van eenvoudig aandoende objecten. Hierbij wordt meestal gekozen voor objecten die geen representatie zijn van de werkelijkheid of juist een andere werkelijkheid suggereren. Meestal is minimalisme gebaseerd op geometrische vormen en het repeteren van uniforme eenheden is kenmerkend aan deze kunststijl. Je ziet dit duidelijk terug in de uil kunstwerk waarbij symmetrie en parallelle lijnen direct te herkennen zijn.

Assembled chair only to find that the lift cylinder was faulty. Would have preferred to be able to just get a replacement cylinder but calling China didn't seem like a viable option.
