Osmo UV-Beschermingsolie kan op twee manieren worden gebruikt. Ten eerste kan het product gebruikt worden als volledige afwerking, dit zijn 2 lagen (1 x gepigmenteerd en 1 x 420, 2x 420 of 2x gepigmenteerd). Ten tweede wordt het product voornamelijk gebruikt als afwerking op al gekleurd op anderszins behandeld hout, dit kunnen verschillende gekleurd Osmo afwerkingen zijn. Doordat het product een UV-beschermingsfactor 12 heeft ten opzicht van onbehandeld hout wordt de levensduur van het oppervlak aanzienlijk verlengt, het vergrijzingsproces wordt vertraagd. Er zijn meerdere kleuren van de UV-Beschermingsolie, deze kleuren zijn gerelateerd aan de kleuren van de verschillende houtsoorten waarnaar ze vernoemd zijn. (deze kleuren zijn dus niet alleen geschikt voor de houtsoorten waarnaar ze vernoemd zijn) De 420, Kleurloos bevat geen kleurpigmenten en benadrukt hierdoor de kleur van het hout. 1 liter is circa voldoende voor 18 m2 bij één laag.
