Clos Erasmus 2020 is een iconische Priorat met een opvallend “Bourgondische” precisie binnen een krachtig mediterraan kader. In de neus komen zwarte kers, braam en rijpe pruim naar voren, verweven met viooltjes, zoethout, ceder, zachte specerijen en een uitgesproken rokerig-leisteenaccent. In de mond is de wijn diep en gelaagd, met een fluweelachtige textuur, rijpe maar duidelijke tannines en een frisse ruggengraat die de rijkdom strak houdt. De afdronk is uitzonderlijk lang, sereen en mineraal, met donker fruit en kruidigheid die minutenlang blijven nazinderen.

Vinificatie.
De druiven worden met de hand geoogst en per wijngaard/perceel afzonderlijk gevinifieerd. De fermentatie gebeurt met natuurlijke gisten in Franse eiken gistingsvaten, gevolgd door een zachte maceratie van ongeveer een maand om diepte te bouwen zonder hardheid. Daarna rijpt de wijn ongeveer 17 maanden in 228L Franse barriques (een mix van nieuwe en tweede vulling), wat structuur en complexiteit geeft zonder het terroir te maskeren. De uiteindelijke assemblage gebeurt na vatrijping.

Het domein.
Clos i Terrasses is het levenswerk van Daphne Glorian in Gratallops en behoort tot de absolute pioniers die Priorat vanaf eind jaren ’80 opnieuw op de wereldkaart zetten. Het domein werkt kleinschalig en extreem selectief, met zeer lage rendementen en een sterke focus op terroir en precisie. De wijngaarden liggen op llicorella (leisteen) en worden biologisch en milieubewust beheerd, met veel handwerk en aandacht voor bodemgezondheid en biodiversiteit. In de kelder is de aanpak bewust niet-sturend: natuurlijke gisten, zachte extractie en geduldige élevage. Hierdoor is Clos Erasmus niet enkel krachtig, maar vooral uitzonderlijk verfijnd, met een enorm bewaarpotentieel. Slechts 3600 flessen geproduceerd.
