De LCD-5 is het nieuwe open-back over-ear Planar-Magnetic topmodel van Audeze in de populaire LCD-series. Deze LCD-5 hoofdtelefoon is voorzien van een geheel nieuwe driver en een verbeterd magneetsysteem. Dankzij de vele vernieuwingen in het design is niet alleen het gewicht met 300 gram afgenomen, het draagcomfort is merkbaar toegenomen, ook is de geluidskwaliteit ten opzichte van de LCD-4 sterk verbeterd.

Een van de optisch meest opvallende wijzigingen is toch wel het afscheid van hout en de volledige afwezigheid van schroeven waarmee het design nog vloeiender is geworden. Ook heeft Audeze de oorkussens en de hoofdband op enkele punten aangepast waarmee het draagcomfort nog verder is toegenomen. De meest belangrijke wijziging is toch wel de 14 Ohm driverimpedantie waarmee deze hoofdtelefoon beter combineert met een grotere selectie hoofdtelefoonversterkers.

Geheel nieuwe drivers

Het meest opmerkelijke verschil ten opzichte van zijn LCD-voorgangers is de toepassing van een 90mm driver in plaats van de gebruikelijke 106mm drivers in de LCD-2, 3 en 4. Deze nieuwe driver is voorzien van Parallel Uniforce Voice Coils en zijn traditioneel voorzien van Audeze’s Fazor Waveguides. Deze zijn nu geïntegreerd in de earcups om diffractie en nadelige interacties nog effectiever te verminderen. Mede hierdoor is de vervorming verder afgenomen en is de geluidskwaliteit in het midrange gebied bovendien toegenomen.

Een ultra-dun nano-scale membraan en 14 krachtige Neodymium N50 magneten in een single-sides Fluxor Magnet Array zorgen voor een betere staging en levert dankzij de toegenomen afstand tussen magneet en voice coil voor een hogere resolutie en dynamiek in de weergave. Dit nieuwe lichtgewicht topmodel van Audeze wordt geleverd met een premium gevlochten 6.3mm hoofdtelefoonkabel, een aluminium bewaarkoffer en een uniek certificaat van echtheid waarmee het premium karakter nog eens extra wordt benadrukt.

I’m very pleased with my purchase and thought about all the times I need a slurry of water and cornstarch to thicken soups and stews. I don’t know the charge life yet, but so far, so good. What you see in the cup is 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk, 3 teaspoons of instant espresso, and 2 ounces of water. Then you add the ice and your creamer, half-and-half, or barista lover’s oat milk, and you’re done. Not too bad, as my grandpa used to say.

Best Hand-Held Frother EVER

I have had many hand-held frothers over the years; hand-held as well as counter top. None of them have really given me the froth that I want which is dense foam to the point that it almost forms "peaks" and needs to be spooned into my coffee. Additionally, the one that I always went back to (hand-held) only lasted for 3-6 months at best before breaking and sometimes it lasted only a few weeks. Additionally, it drained batteries to the point they needed to be replaced every 2-3 weeks. The Circle Joy DOES make thick, dense froth (I use very cold skim milk on the high speed), has 3 speeds and is rechargeable so no more battery issues. Once I froth the milk, I pop it in the microwave for 40 seconds or so to heat/warm it up. It also comes with an attachment for beating eggs as well as an attachment for stirring in protein powders. I don't need the egg beater and I use the low speed to mix in chocolate collagen powder. I just got this frother so reliability is yet to be proven but I figure at $20.00 even if it needs to be replaced every six months ... it is still a winner.
