These Classic Staunton chess pieces offer excellent quality and yet still represent superb value for money. The quality of finish and attention to detail on these solid wooden chessmen is far beyond what you expect from such a modestly priced set.
As you would expect, each chess piece has been expertly turned from solid boxwood with the black pieces undergoing ’ebonisation’ - a very convincing process that gives them the look of real ebony without its price tag. Each piece is then weighted and felted on the base. The 8.9 cm king height and their colouring make them perfect for this stunningly unique chessboard.
Beautifully crafted by esteemed chessboard maker, Rechapados Ferrer of Spain, a natural 'tiger stripe' ebony and maple veneered construction is used for the playing surface.
Modern fabrication techniques are used, resulting in a chessboard with clean, precise lines and very critical detailing. Natural, untreated ebony has a rich, contrasting dark grain which is simply stunning and well suited to modern interior designs. A perfect combination of board and chessmen.
