2nd Year Maturity. Sensitive Plant mimosas guarantee one of the most interactive, playful, and entertaining blooms you’ll ever grow. Sensitive Plant seeds grow a neat 12 – 24” tall shrubby mimosa bursting with delicate 1” pink “pom-pom” blooms whose leaves are known world-wide to be seisomonastic (responding to physical touch and movement). Sensitive Plant mimosa seeds are a perfect grow for adding a brush of grace to window boxes, rock gardens, hanging baskets, or keeping anywhere guests or children can touch and watch the leaves recoil right before their eyes. Sensitive Plant mimosa thrives in a diverse variety of humid gardens and its nectar-rich blooms will keep your vegetables and crops healthy and abundant with important pollinators well into the summer. 1000 seeds.

Growing Sensitive Plant Mimosa Garden Seeds

  • Taxonomy: Mimosa pudica
  • Other Names: Shy Plant, Prayer Plant, Sleepy Plant, Sleeping Grass, Action Plant, Touch-Me-Not, Humble Plant, or Shame Plant
  • Seed Type: Annual (Biennial in zones 9 - 11)
  • Sow Indoors or Outdoors: For earliest blooms, begin Sensitive Plant mimosa seeds indoors 8 – 10 weeks before final frost date. Seeds will quickly germinate in 5 – 10 days with full lighting and, once germinated, move to fluorescent grow light until two sets of true leaves have developed. Transplant seedlings to indoor container or pot and harden off if transplanting outside. Mimosa seeds can also be sown directly once the frost has passed.
  • Days to Maturity: 2nd year maturity
  • Hardiness Zone: 3 – 11
  • Planting Depth: Plant 2 – 3 seeds ¼” deep
  • Plant Spacing: 15”
  • Growth Habit: 12 – 24” shrubby upright with a 12 – 15” wide spread covered in 1” delicate "pom-pom" shaped blooms
  • Soil Preference: Organically-rich, consistently moist, well-drained
  • Light Preference: Full sun – Partial shade
  • Diseases/Pests/Troubleshooting: Sensitive Plant mimosa thrives in well-drained soil and can be susceptible to leaf spots, mold, and stem rot. Plants will benefit from partial shade during severe summers and are not tolerant of arid gardens prone to drought conditions. Mimosa is susceptible to spider mites and the mimosa webworm, which are each noticeable because the leaves will close and retract from the contact and/or webbing of the insects.
  • Color: Silky and bushy pink blooms and bright green leaves

Mimosa pudica is native to the warm perennial tropics of South and Central America, but have been found thriving in similar climates in the South Pacific and United States. Mimosa pudica is an internationally famous plant because it is seismonastic or, responds to physical touch and movements, and at night, the leaves will also fold and bend in a reaction to the darkness. It is said that, at night, the leaves assume a folded or sleeping posture. When the plant is touched or in response to applying heat, the leaves can move very rapidly, and the plant can snap its leaves shut. But too much heat and pressure will cause the leaf to wilt altogether.

Order 1 size larger.
Size: X-Large, Color: Blue White Plaid
Nice shirt. The size is not accurate by any stretch of the imagination. I wear size xl in shirts except for this one. An xl fits like a large. Other than that I like the shirt. I would've given it 5 stars if not for the sizing. I'll give away this one and order an xxl. Just order a size above what you wear and you'll be happy.

Satisfied with color and fit
Size: Small, Color: Light Purple
For the money, this is a good shirt. True, the material is a bit thin and there is a feeling of 'fragility' (loose threads here and there) but the color is nice, the texture is appropriate. The sizing is what I call "New American". I was a medium my whole life but supersizing has made me into a small. I haven't changed, Americans have grown bigger. I am six feet tall and a bit (180+ cm) and weigh 155 pounds (70kg and a bit). The small fits me just fine everywhere but the shoulders are just barely wide enough. If you have slightly wider shoulders but are similar to me otherwise, this may be too tight for you in that one place.

Fits too tight at waist.
Size: XX-Large, Color: Wine
Quality of product satisfactory, however size labeling incorrect. I ordered a XXL that is too tight at the waist. It should be labeled XXL Trim.
