- Choose the SpacePi X4L if: You primarily print with PLA, PETG, or TPU for multi-color models. It provides the perfect temperature range (up to 75°C) to keep your standard filaments dry and print-ready without the extra cost of industrial features.
- Choose the SpacePi X4 if: You are a professional printing with Nylon (PA), Polycarbonate (PC), or Fiber-Filled materials. The extra 10°C (up to 85°C) and Active Dehumidification are critical for these hygroscopic materials to prevent bubbling and weak layer adhesion.
Expert Tip: Why 85°C Matters for Carbon Fiber & Nylon
If you are printing with Nylon (PA-CF) or Polycarbonate (PC), the standard 70°C drying limit of most dryers isn't enough. These materials are extremely hygroscopic—they absorb moisture deep into the filament core.
To truly dry them, you need heat that approaches their glass transition temperature. The SpacePi X4's 85°C capability is critical here because:
- Deeper Drying: It drives moisture out of the filament core, not just the surface.
- Prevents Steam Bubbles: It eliminates the microscopic water pockets that boil in your nozzle, causing "popping" noises and rough surface finishes.
- Restores Strength: Wet Nylon loses up to 30% of its tensile strength. Printing it bone-dry at 85°C ensures your heavy-duty parts are actually heavy-duty.
