A beautiful act of love this is a fabulous antique jewel. Exquisitely framed with diamonds and filled with charm and sentiments, this would make an amazing addition to any jewellery lovers collection.Mourning jewellery became popular in the Georgian era as a way of remembering those who have passed. They are testament to the adoration of one to another. They have always been cherished by later generations and have certainly seen a huge revival in recent years. Mourning jewellery can be found in a few styles, often filled with sentimental images, dark enamelling and unique engraving.
The front of this brooch has been designed as a locket. A domed rock crystal cover contains a vivid blue enamel onto which is served the letters J and A. These have been adorned with rose cut diamonds that sparkle and glow in the light.
Looking at the reverse we have a wonderful hand engraving which reads ‘John Avenell Ob Jan 16 1793 Ab 55‘. From the records we can see John lived in Clerkwell in central London. He married Margaret Cole, who was a widow in the parish church of Saint James on 14th September 1788. We find them throughout the archives of the city. In 1791, not long before his death he was occupying at Number 9 Chapel street.

Favorite toy.
Seems to be of good quality. There are probably a dozen different name brands for these balls. Our puppy loves these. Our son’s 90 pound golden lab has had one for a couple years. He has his outside and it’s a very similar design. Although not the same manufacturer.
