The key can only be removed when the console is locked and must be removed in order to slide the OEM tray backwards. The safe is not designed to work with sliding trays where the cup holders have lids. Sliding trays with lids will not have enough clearance to slide back over the Tuffy Console Insert. This is typically seen on RAM Longhorn and Limited trims.
