A heel lift should never be used without an orthotic to treat a short leg, as the longer leg will usually accomodate to the length discepancy by pronating to level the pelvis. Long leg pronation should be treated first ( using ICB orthotics),

Adding a heel lift to ICB Orthotics can also reieve pain associated with Severs Disease and Achiles Tendonitis.
