JaneBy: Maggie Nelson Part elegy, part true crime story, this memoir in verse from the author of the award winning The Argonauts expands the notion of how we tell stories and what form those stories take through the story of a murdered woman and the mystery surrounding her last hours. Jane tells the spectral story of the life and death of Maggie Nelsons aunt Jane, who was murdered in 1969 while a first year law student at the University of Michigan.
By: Maggie NelsonPart elegy, part true crime story, this memoir-in-verse from the author of the award-winning The Argonauts expands the notion of how we tell stories and what form those stories take through the story of a murdered woman and the mystery surrounding her last hours.
Jane tells the spectral story of the life and death of Maggie Nelson’s aunt Jane, who was murdered in 1969 while a first-year law student at the University of Michigan. Though officially unsolved, Jane’s murder was apparently the third in a series of seven brutal rape-murders in the area between 1967 and 1969. Nelson was born a few years after Jane’s death, and the narrative is suffused with the long shadow her murder cast over both the family and her psyche.
Exploring the nature of this haunting incident via a collage of poetry, prose, dream-accounts, and documentary sources, including local and national newspapers, related “true crime” books such as The Michigan Murders and Killer Among Us, and fragments from Jane’s own diaries written when she was 13 and 21, its eight sections cover Jane’s childhood and early adulthood, her murder and its investigation, the direct and diffuse effect of her death on Nelson’s girlhood and sisterhood, and a trip to Michigan Nelson took with her mother (Jane’s sister) to retrace the path of Jane’s final hours.
Each piece in Jane has its own form, and the movement from each piece to the next--along with the white space that surrounds each fragment--serve as important fissures, disrupting the tabloid, “page-turner” quality of the story, and eventually returning the reader to deeper questions about girlhood, empathy, identification, and the essentially unknowable aspects of another’s life and death. Equal parts a meditation on violence (serial, sexual violence in particular), and a conversation between the living and the dead, Jane’s powerful and disturbing subject matter, combined with its innovations in genre, shows its readers what poetry is capable of--what kind of stories it can tell, and how it can tell them.

The pages fall apart easily. The book wasn’t bound properly at all.
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
I’ve just opened this book today. I like how the subject matters are explained and to the point. However, I bought this book new and it is already falling apart from the seams. Whatever they used to bind the pages together is of very poor quality; for that matter I gave it a rating of 3. Wish it was more durable. Now I’m afraid the leaves will all fall out very soon.

Game Changer!
Format: Paperback
When I was introduced to this series Abba Foundation, Factor and Formation I was desperately seeking the Lord to establish a real relationship and to obtain a real foundation of what the Christian walk was like. I tried in myself to change myself behaviorally thinking if I acted right I would look like a real Christian. Yet in my heart I didn’t have real love for people and I didn’t know the Father outside of what I wanted from Him. I was very broken. Moreover, I didn’t have the right thoughts about myself nor others. The Bible kept saying I was a new person but there was no real evidence of that in my life. So I was crying and crying, petitioning God for the answer when D’Blessing of AgapEKind Media Ministry was used of the Lord to help me and many others. The Lord began to develop me and through the word of God and this book I am finally experiencing transformation and renewal of my mind. My life has been reset and I have been reborn. And while it is a lifelong journey through ABBA’s love I now have a firm foundation. This course is foundational to most other things we learn in the church because it teaches you your identity and helps you build your relationship with Father. It tears down the barriers that hinders relationship like bad parents, childhood trauma, etc. If first things are first then this teaching is the first thing everyone should receive. It definitely comes before any kind of gifts training and discovery of purpose. The ironic thing is that all of the other things flow from the relationship with the Father. It is through that relationship that you discover purpose and who He has called you to be. No wondering ...no struggle... no searching. The Father is a revealer and wants to reveal Himself to you. I have since gifted this boom to many other people as the Lord has moved my heart and I believe so will you. You will want everyone to have the liberty and freedom that truly comes through Christ Jesus. Blessings and I love you all.
