Science & History

Benitoite is a rare blue barium titanium silicate mineral, found in hydro thermally altered serpentinite. Benitoite fluoresces under short wave ultraviolet light, appearing bright blue to bluish white in color. The more rarely seen clear to white benitoite crystals fluoresce red under long-wave UV light.

It was first described in 1907 by George D. Louderback, who named it "Benitoite" for its occurrence near the headwaters of the San Benito River in San Benito County, California.

Natrolite forms in a thin layer of white crystals on the surface on crossite. Benitoite and neptunite crystals can be seen on top of this bright white surface. High in sodium, this sodium aluminum silicate is a zeolite, a mineral species that can be a catalyst and exchanges ions readily.

Crossite is a greyish blue mineral in the amphibole group. It has a hardness of 6 and is a host mineral on which natrolite, neptunite, and benitoite are found.

    Great mouse
Pattern Name: New Version, Color: Blue
My old mouse would not work with my new computer, hence the reason for my purchase. This mouse works perfectly. I plugged in the adaptor to the USB drive, inserted a battery into the mouse and turned it on, and it has worked perfectly since.

    Works well.
Pattern Name: New Version, Color: Black
I like this mouse but, I gave a 5 star because it is almost impossible to turn on and off. I understand having the on off button recessed but, give it some room around it so the tip of a fingernail can get to it, that being said, I would buy this again. The battery life is long but, in my world to leave something on that has a battery and not being used does not make sense. I do recommend it in the end, works well with my HP computer.
