Eddy Howard, although not necessarily a household name these days, was a hugely popular and successful singer and bandleader during the 1940s and early '50s, racking up more than 40 Billboard pop chart hits from 1946 to 1955, having already had half-a-dozen hits as vocalist with Dick Jurgen's Orchestra during the war years. As a singer, he was a classic crooner, competing for chart honours with the likes of Dick Haymes, and he scored two landmark No. 1s with the ballads "To Each His Own" in 1946 and "It's No Sin" in 1951. They are naturally included in the great-value 52-track collection, which selects recordings from his Vocalion sessions with Dick Jurgens and his solo singles for the Majestic and Mercury labels through into the '50s, as well as some classy jazz titles for Columbia where he records with Teddy Wilson, Charlie Christian, Benny Morton and Bud Freeman among others. It is packed full of hits, featuring just about every one of his chart entries, including with more than twenty Top 10 successes. It's a worthy tribute to an artist who has not received the recognition that his success during that era merited, and is a must for lovers of the style that characterised what many regard as the golden era of popular music.

Account of a Review from a St. Nicholas
I have been representing the spirit of St. Nicholas for children for the past 26 years. I have been everything from a Mall Santa to a part in a Christmas Program at our local church. About ten years ago, I started reading this story to the children of the local cops & firefighters fairly close to Christmas Eve each year from an old tattered children's book. I usually hosted this in my own living room until it got too large to do so. This year we opened that reading up to the community and filled the basement of our local library with children and their parents. I needed something to replace the old tattered children's book with and this fit the bill. The illustrations are beautiful and the words large enough to read in front of a group of children. I wish the pages were a little more robust as they are difficult to turn with white gloves on but that is minor. I cannot recommend this edition of the timeless story enough.

“Twas the Night before Christmas” illustrated by Matt Tavares
Format: Hardcover
Clement C. Moore - “Twas the Night before Christmas” is a perennial holiday favorite of mine. Matt Tavares’ monochrome illustrations are incredible! Mr. Tavares’ version remains true to the text within the original 1823 poem, ”A Visit from St. Nicholas”. As noted - two original reindeer names – Dunder and Blixem.
I highly recommend Irish illustrator PJ Lynch 2021 version and American illustrator Matt Tavares 2022 version of Moore’s “Twas the Night before Christmas”.

This is the original how it was written and the classic that has lived and will continue to live on forever in everyone's heart! This is not the edited version by the thought police. This is the classic in all its Glory celebrating Saint Nicholas and Christmas and the beauty of Christmas and Saint Nicholas. That has been enjoyed by generations since it was first written before it's destruction by editing. Buy this book! Tavares' beautiful craftsmanship brings Moore's poem to life
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas is a beautifully illustrated edition of the famed Clement C. Moore poem. Using the original anonymous version of the poem (later attributed to Moore), artist Matt Tavares crafts a series of elegant black and white illustrations that captures its enchantment and whimsy. Additionally, the book’s layout has a simple yet classic design with green trim and subtle pieces of shading that give it a majestic look and feel. One of the best editions of the poem ever published, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas has a bit of magic all its own.

Beautiful book
I purchased this book for my kids to read as it gets closer to Christmas. I specifically chose it because of the old world charm it has. I love the black and white sketches and the fact that the outdoor scenes of brownstones were illustrated from Boston brownstones, where we used to live. This book is just a classic and the illustrations have such depth and emotion. There is that quality and detail you can only get from black and white..and from an amazing illustrator. Lovely book. I'm very happy to own it and have it as part of our Christmas tradition..a lot more special to me than Elf on The Shelf..which was last years Christmas book purchase.
