This fern typically grows to a height of 1-2.5 feet with a similar spread. It prefers part shade to full shade and thrives best in well-drained, moist, fertile soils. The leaves of the Northern Maidenhair Fern are compound and have a bright green color. The stems are black and wiry, providing a striking contrast to the leaves.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Water regularly.  Fronds may brown early in Southern heat if moisture is not maintained.  Remove old fronds after new growth begins in spring.
