Six Questions Your Teriyaki Madness Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this franchise unit financial model using deep-dive research into the fast-casual sector. Key assumptions like the $900,000 year-one revenue and the 11.2% food cost are pre-populated but fully editable to fit your specific site. This tool helps you calculate startup costs for a fast-casual franchise and maps out everything from the $45,000 initial fee to the 3-year payback timeline.

When does this unit reach net profitability?

Based on the data, this unit hits its stride quickly, achieving breakeven by March 2026, just three months after launch. With year-one EBITDA projected at $198,000, the model shows a clear path to $970,000 in annual earnings by year five as catering and repeat app orders scale. Still, you need to manage the 3.5% delivery commissions to keep margins healthy.

Profitability Drivers

  • Scale catering orders
  • Optimize food waste
  • Manage shift lead FTEs

How much cash is needed to get started?

You'll need a significant war chest, with leasehold improvements and kitchen equipment totaling $300,000 alone. The total initial investment covers the $45,000 franchise fee, $25,000 for a grand opening splash, and $15,000 for initial inventory to ensure you don't run out of protein on day one. Here is the quick math: your total Capital expenditure (CapEx) is the primary hurdle before the first bowl is sold.

Major Capital Uses

  • Leasehold Improvements: $200,000
  • Kitchen Equipment: $100,000
  • Franchise Fee: $45,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the expected investor return?

The model projects a 3-year payback period, which is standard for a high-performing fast-casual franchise. With an internal rate of return (IRR) of 5.72% and a return on equity of 2.44, the numbers suggest a stable, long-term play rather than a get-rich-quick scheme. Calculating ROI for a new franchise location is easier when you see the 5-year EBITDA climb from $198,000 to $970,000.

Key Return Metrics

  • 3-year payback period
  • 5.72% IRR
  • 2.44 ROE
[dynamic_pic11]

What is the monthly sales target to stay in the black?

To cover your $10,000 rent and $1,800 utility bill, you need to hit breakeven within 3 months. The primary driver here is throughput-getting those $400,000 worth of bowls out the door in year one while managing the 2.2% payment processing bite. Honestly, the franchise operational costs are manageable if you hit the $900,000 year-one revenue target.

Breakeven Levers

  • Increase average ticket
  • Reduce delivery commissions
  • Control hourly labor
[dynamic_pic12]

When is the cash position most vulnerable?

The lowest cash point hits in September 2026 at $842,000. This reflects the heavy CAPEX spend during the build-out phase and the initial ramp-up. You'll want to keep a close eye on the $25,000 exterior signage and $20,000 POS costs to ensure you don't dip deeper than planned. If opening takes 90+ days longer than planned, working capital pressure rises fast.

Cash Preservation

  • Phase furniture purchases
  • Negotiate rent abatement
  • Monitor inventory levels
[dynamic_pic13]

How do different market conditions affect the bottom line?

Moving from a medium to a high scenario can push year-five revenue toward that $2.42 million mark, significantly boosting your EBITDA margin. If sales underperform in the low case, the 9% combined royalty and marketing fee becomes a much heavier burden on your $198,000 year-one earnings. This franchise financial feasibility study template lets you stress-test these variables easily.

High-Case Odds

  • Targeted local marketing
  • High app adoption
  • Efficient catering sales

Rottweiler approved
Color: Purple
My Rottweiler puppies love these bones. I feel good about letting them play with these and not worry they will break or that they can choke because they are durable and a good size and weight. I like the variety and can put peanut butter on the crevices if I want to give as a treat. Worth the money!

Perfect for the aggressive chewer
Color: Purple
I purchased these because I have a 1-year-old black lab redbone coonhound mix who destroys every toy and Bone. I have gotten him in a short amount of time... These things have outstanded this little guy and he is still enjoying them! Keeps him occupied and satisfies his chewing for hours! And he leaves my shoes alone haha

Best for all chewers!
Color: Purple, Color: Purple
I purchased in February and waited until ive had them long enough to make a justified review. I have a very VERY aggressive chewer. He destroys every toy he gets within minutes or a hour. We didnt expect much out of these but why not. Let me tell you... they only have small teeth dents. No cracks, no breaks, no chunks missing, none in the trash, no bleeding gums... nothing. My chewer loves them. First day he just stared at them like they were alien objects but after we played fetch a few times it was on!! Now all three dogs chewer on them. I would say im purchasing again but I dont know when that will be lol I highly recommend to anyone!! Photo is taken today 6/4/26

My pit bull loves them.
Color: Purple
I picked up the Frienhund Tough Dog Toys 3-pack for my large, heavy chewer, and overall I’m pretty impressed. Right out of the box, the toys feel solid and well-made—definitely more durable than your average chew toy. My dog usually destroys new toys within a day or two, but these have held up significantly longer, which is a big win. They also do a great job of keeping him occupied. The shapes and textures seem to keep his interest, and I’ve noticed less destructive chewing on furniture since introducing these. That alone makes them worth it. The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that while they’re very tough, they’re not completely “indestructible” (despite the claim). After a couple of weeks of heavy use, there are some visible wear marks. Still, compared to most other toys we’ve tried, these last much longer. Overall, a great option for medium to large dogs that are aggressive chewers—durable, engaging, and a solid value for a 3-pack.
