Overview

The APO PTR20/1000 20mm (3/4") 1000kPa PTR Pressure and Temperature Relief Valve, also known as TPR valve is used to regulate the water pressure inside hot water services, including heat pumps, electric, gas storage and solar water heaters across all mainstream brands in Australia such as Rheem, Vulcan, Rinnal, Dux, Aquamax, Thermann, Apricus and Solahart.

The APO PTR valve features the same threads, fitments and similar physical sizes with many other PTR valve manufacturer brands such as Reliance' HT55, AVG, Tomson, Nefa and Reflex. This makes the APO PTR valve a perfect direct replacement to an existing valve in an old hot water heater.

The PTR pressure temperature relief valve regulates the pressure caused by water volume expansions during normal heating cycles in a hot water service. The PTR valve relieves this increase in pressure by a controlled water dripping into a drain line typically of 2 to 5 litres per day depending on the hot water usage.

The PTR pressure temperature relief valve also acts as a mechanical protection device for the hot water services. In rare occasions of a faulty thermostat or heating element, the hot water service can overheat, building a dangerously high pressure and temperature inside. When this pressure or temperature exceeds the PTR valve's rating, it will dump hundreds of litres of water all at once as an emergency pressure relief. Usually a large puddle of water will be observed around the hot water services on the ground during this emergency water dumping. The PTR valve usually has a KW rating, which describes this emergency water dumping ability in terms the heat dissipating power. A larger PTR valve will usually have a larger KW rating and this KW rating is specified by local plumbing rules, especially in large commercial hot water systems. In this listing, the APO PTR with a thread size of BSP 20mm 3/4" is usually used in a commercial hot water system with a higher 30kW rating (compared to a common residential BSP 15mm 1/2" sized PTR at just 10kW)

A functioning PTR valve is a requirement by law in Australia for safety as per explained above. A typical sign for a faulty PTR valve is when there is a large amount of water leakage in a stream, rather than a controlled dripping. The worn out or leaking PTR valve must be replaced immediately.

An optional PTR insulation jacket is available which can reduce the heat loss and improve the hot water services' overall thermal efficiency.

Interesting but limited
Format: Paperback
A tale of sound and fury signifying... what? There's a lot going on. A lot of pretty pictures. But at the end of the volume you don't really know anything. Won't be buying volume 2.

A Great Starting Point / What The Readers Want
Format: Paperback
This is the Spider-Man comic I have been waiting a decade for. For some reason with Marvel Comics these days there is a mindset that Peter Parker and Mary Jane cannot be happy by staying married together ever since the release of the terrible storyline One More Day. Nick Spencer almost undid this terrible decision but was prevented from doing so. The series gives readers exactly what they want by starting it off with Peter and MJ already married and with kids. This is a brand new continuity that is separate from the old Ultimate universe that welcomes readers with a new starting point. Peter is not yet established as Spider-Man and the story is about him gaining his powers while he is an older and more mature individual. There are quite a few surprises that I will not spoil, but it will demonstrate how this is not the same universe as the original 616 universe. I have to hand it to Jonathan Hickman as he is a great writer that is able to grab the attention of his audience and keep them invested in what happens next. This was apparent on his previous runs with Avengers and New Avengers. Also, the art by Marco Checchetto is top tier as this man is one of the best artists working in the comic industry currently at this time. Check out this comic if you are looking to read a good Spider-Man series.

Best Spider-Man book out there!
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed this first volume of ultimate Spider-Man. As a (sort of) adult myself I love the new twist on the origin with Peter being a grown ass man with in his mid to late 30s with a career & young family when he gets the the powers this time instead of geeky teenager who is perpetually in his 20s in the 696 Marvel universe. Really enjoy the different take on Green Goblin as well and looking forward to seeing how everything plays out with the whole mission and greater conflict laid out in this book. The artwork is stellar and the writing is really sharp and crisp. Peter has never been more likable & charismatic and MJ & Gwen Stacey have never looked hotter. I could not recommend this book highly enough if you are a Spider-Man fan. As a matter of fact I enjoyed this book so much that I read it twice which I very rarely do.

The Spider-Man We Didn't Know We Needed
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) Vol. 1 is the breath of fresh air the franchise needed. Instead of the familiar wide-eyed teenager, we get a Peter Parker in his mid-30s - a husband, a father, and a man already carrying the weight of the world before he ever puts on a suit. That added dimension makes him instantly more compelling. The family dynamics, while central to the premise, don't always land with the emotional weight they deserve. It's a minor gripe in an otherwise confident debut. Hickman deserves credit for sidestepping decades of continuity baggage and reimagining beloved characters in arcs that feel genuinely new. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, this is a worthy read.
