Glasgow two-piece Honeyblood announce the release of their eponymous, debut LP. Recorded at legendary producer Peter Katis' Tarquin Studios (The National, Interpol) in just ten days last November, 'Honeyblood' is an accomplished and delightfully fierce record. "Peter was the perfect match for us," singer/guitarist Stina Tweeddale said of the recording. "He perfectly managed to capture our live performance in the studio." from the urgent guitar and dive-bomb drums of opener 'Fall Forever', the album twists through the gutsy punk of 'Killer Bangs', to reveal discordant anthems like 'Super Rat'. It has pared down alt pop gems in the likes of 'Biro' and 'No Spare Key', but also more country/folk influenced moments like, '(I'd Rather Be) Anywhere But Here', 'Braid Burn Valley' and 'Bud'. The band started from humble DIY beginnings, organising their own guerrilla show at the Old Hairdressers in Glasgow to commemorate the release of a raucous two-track cassette entitled, 'Thrift Shop'. Honeyblood quickly ingrained themselves into the bustling Glaswegian scene, fast becoming one of it's most talked-about names and going on to play festivals everywhere from the Great Escape to their native T in the Park. But with their full-length debut ready to go, big name supports, and world tours locked, 2014 certainly looks to be the year with Honeyblood's name written all over it.

Good second-level pickleball paddles for a great price

I've been playing pickleball for a while now, though not ever well. I have progressed from wooden paddles and just trying things out to bundles of basic fiberglass paddles and balls to higher-end paddles that individually cost more than the "multi-paddle plus balls" bundles. I have kids and kids-in-law and grandkids, and not everyone has their own paddles. Thus, I purchased this set to get a couple more paddles.
This Amazon Basics set of 2 paddles, four balls, and a carrying case is a starter set, maybe one step up from the basic wooden paddles that I started with. The paddles are nice, light-weight but sturdy, with a decent surface that should allow some level of control. The grips are nice, and there is some additional grip tape you can use to retape a handle that wears out.
The balls are standard balls, and should get you started.
The case is similar to cases I've purchased before with other sets. Unfortunately, the makers skimped on the zipper. It only has one (another case from a similar set had two zippers), and after just a few uses, the zipper completely fell off (see photo). This makes the case completely useless, and definitely drops my rating.
But, given the price, the quality of the paddles, and the four balls, this is still a great starter set, even without a cheap carrying case. I'm happy to have the extra balls and paddles.

Soooo cute & girly!

This cute coral and white pickleball paddle set is perfect for beginners or casual games. The paddles feel sturdy and well made, and the color combo is really fun and stylish. I also love that it comes with two different types of balls, so you’re ready to play right away.
