A Washington Post Notable Book of the YearA New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice An award-winning constitutional law scholar at the University of Chicago (who clerked for Judge Merrick B. Garland, Justice Stephen Breyer, and Justice Sandra Day O'Connor) gives us an engaging and alarming book that aims to vindicate the rights of public school stu-dents, which have so often been undermined by the Supreme Court in recent decades. Judicial decisions assessing the constitutional rights of students in the nation's public schools have consistently generated bitter controversy. From racial segregation to un-authorized immigration, from antiwar protests to compul-sory flag salutes, from economic inequality to teacher-led prayer--these are but a few of the cultural anxieties dividing American society that the Supreme Court has addressed in elementary and secondary schools. The Schoolhouse Gate gives a fresh, lucid, and provocative account of the historic legal battles waged over education and illuminates contemporary disputes that continue to fracture the nation. Justin Driver maintains that since the 1970s the Supreme Court has regularly abdicated its responsibility for protecting students' constitutional rights and risked trans-forming public schools into Constitution-free zones. Students deriving lessons about citizenship from the Court's decisions in recent decades would conclude that the following actions taken by educators pass constitutional muster: inflicting severe corporal punishment on students without any proce-dural protections, searching students and their possessions without probable cause in bids to uncover violations of school rules, random drug testing of students who are not suspected of wrongdoing, and suppressing student speech for the view-point it espouses. Taking their cue from such decisions, lower courts have upheld a wide array of dubious school actions, including degrading strip searches, repressive dress codes, draconian "zero tolerance" disciplinary policies, and severe restrictions on off-campus speech. Driver surveys this legal landscape with eloquence, highlights the gripping personal narratives behind landmark clashes, and warns that the repeated failure to honor students' rights threatens our basic constitutional order. This magiste-rial book will make it impossible to view American schools--or America itself--in the same way again.

Beautiful on the bed easy care
Color: White, Size: Queen (90''x90'')
I hurt my back and it was difficult for me to wrestle with a queen size down duvet, to put in a hard to Iron duvet cover. I ordered the Cozy Bliss Cooling Comforter Seersucker Plaid queen size - put in in the washer, then the dryer - NO LINT OR FUZZ, NO IRONING! Light as a feather. absolutely beautiful on the BED!!! For warmth I ordered a couple of fleece blankets that can be added on cold days. Washed and dried them - very little lint or fuzz! So much easier on my back!

Excellent comforter for tropical climate
Color: White, Size: King (104''x90'')
After moving from a colder state to Hawaii, we needed a cooler comforter for our bed. This one works like a charm! It's cozy and comfortable to sleep in for our climate, substantial enough that it feels like a proper comforter and not just another sheet. It has noticeably reduced sweating. We weren't quite sure about the grid-type pattern when we ordered it, but it looks great in place. It is a little short on the sides, but that hasn't been a problem.

Works very well!
It is made of good quality and has definitely helped with my hot flashes at night. Love the color. Soft and light weight. Only thing is it tends to slide off here n there but its no big deal.

The best comforter I've ever had. Like being wrapped in clouds.
Color: Light Grey, Size: King (104''x90''), Color: Light Grey, Size: King (104''x90'')
I've been suffering for a long time with night sweats due to menopause and have been experiencing insomnia. Even in winter, I sleep with a fan on. I would wake up several times during the night, alternating between feeling cold from being uncovered and hot from being under the duvet. Well, after much research on Amazon, I decided on this product, and it was the best decision I've ever made. I have no words to describe the comfort, the softness of the fabric, and how cool it keeps me. It's thin, but it's cozy and doesn't slip on the bed. Tonight I wasn't fighting a battle in my bed.It really is exactly as described in the product description. I slept without feeling hot and didn't even turn on the fan (my house's heating system wasn't on). I highly recommend it, especially for women going through menopause. It's worth every penny. I think I'll even buy another one in a different color...
