This book is for enthusiasts and collectors of antique and collectible telephones who want to repair or restore their telephones. It provides the reader with information on tools and techniques, as well as step-by-step instructions and hundreds of photographs to aid the restorer.
The many photographs in this book show how to disassemble different telephones and their parts. Photos also show cleaning and restoration techniques. Finally, reassembly of the parts into the complete telephone is shown.
Since the author is mainly a collector of Stromberg-Carlson telephones, the models described in this book are those produced by Stromberg-Carlson. That being said, models produced by Stromberg-Carlson have similar counterparts produced by other companies such as Western Electric, thus many of the techniques shown, as well as disassembly and assembly instructions are similar.
