It is important in workplace practice because young learners often require clear boundaries, consistent expectations, accessible learning processes, and proactive welfare and safety considerations to ensure participation, skill development, and positive learning outcomes.

1. Identify learning needs and goals for young vocational learners in line with regulatory requirements and consult required colleagues.
2. Analyse learner characteristics, abilities, and learning context to inform appropriate planning decisions.
3. Select learning activities, facilitation techniques, and structured processes suited to young vocational learners and confirm suitability with learners.
4. Develop and document individualised learning plans that apply learning theories, learner-centred principles, and agreed learning needs.
5. Incorporate required inclusions in learning plans, including goals, logistics, structure of the learning relationship, monitoring processes, resources, and contingency planning.
6. Prepare for each learning session in line with documented learning plans, required activities, and resource and equipment needs.
7. Seek and use feedback and assistance from qualified or experienced colleagues to address specific learning needs and implement learning plans appropriately.
8. Clarify and agree learning relationship boundaries and expectations with learners in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
9. Establish and sustain a safe and inclusive learning environment using respectful interaction protocols, inclusive language, and learner welfare actions aligned to Child Safety Standards obligations.
10. Facilitate planned structured learning activities using suitable delivery modes (face-to-face, online, and blended) to reinforce new learning and build on learner strengths.
11. Apply behaviour management strategies and effective communication techniques to maintain active participation and manage challenging situations.
12. Use motivational strategies that support learners to take responsibility for their learning while meeting ethical requirements and monitoring learner interaction.
13. Observe learner cues and indicators of engagement, motivation, and interaction, and adapt facilitation approaches to maintain momentum and engagement.
14. Acknowledge and support individual differences and additional learning needs by organising suitable learning options, adjustments, referrals, and external support services where required.
15. Evaluate learning outcomes and learning relationships by gathering learner feedback, assessing effectiveness of activities and own performance, documenting outcomes, and identifying improvements in line with organisational requirements and stakeholder needs.
