Giovanni Segantini 1858-1899The artist Giovanni Segantini was a leading member of the European avant garde of his day. The artist Giovanni Segantini was a leading member of the European avant-garde of his day. He was hailed as an 'innovator', a 'prophet' and a 'revolutionary': in an obituary one critic called him a "Secession in his own right." His work was to be seen in public and private collections alike, and had a major effect on art in Europe at the time. Even the Futurists cited him as a role-model. At present there are no monographs of Segantini in print. This publication will fill this gap and offers the public a new opportunity to see important paintings and drawings by this artist, including his famous triptych Werden - Sein - Vergehen (La Vita - La Natura - La Morte). With an in-depth essay on the artist's oeuvre - from his early genre paintings, influenced by Realism, right up to his symbolic depictions of Nature in a Divisionist style - this publication is an up-to-date, comprehensive monograph on Giovanni Segantini. (German edition available ISBN 3-7757-0561-9, Italian edition available ISBN 3- 7757-0585-6) The artist: Giovanni Segantini (Arco/Trient 1858-1899 Schafberg near St. Moritz in the Engadine). Self-taught. 1864: moves to Milan. 1876- 1878: attends evening classes at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. 1881-1886: resident in Pusiano, 1886-1894: in Savognin/Engadin. Has contact with the artists of the 'Scapigliatura' in Lombardy and with the group 'Les XX', to which James Ensor also belongs. 1889: Segantini represents Italy at the World Exhibition in Paris. 1894: moves to Maloja in the Engadine.

The only balls that have lasted with my dogs.
Color: Orange, Size: Large
I own a Southern Black Mouth Cur and a Belgian Malinois. They have destroyed every other ball I purchased in a matter of minuets, except for these. I will not waste my money on any other brand!! Also come in large and small sizes, for at home backyard play or carrying in a pocket. Okay, so my dogs have now had these balls to play with for months and finally put tiny holes in both. The holes are so small you can't see them, but you can hear air escaping when they chew on them. One actually folded in on itself one time but I was able to pop it right back out, throw it again, and watch my happy aggressive chewer catch it on the first bounce. And they both still bounce well! These Chuck It balls are easy to find if left outside because of their bright orange color, rinse off easily with just water when muddy and grunge covered from outdoor play, or you can use any soap or cleaner you prefer without damaging them. Perfect for any dog, big or small - indoors or outside in the dirt. Love these!!

Won't go through "hurricane" or chain-link fencing - dogs LOVE it.
Color: Orange, Size: Large
We've been using this size (large) for about 2 years now. Between our Doberman pinscher and the boxer-pitbull mix, they are tough on toys. These dogs have access to the Chuckit Ultra balls only under supervision and they run like crazy in the backyard while either fetching or holding onto the balls. It keeps our doberman out of trouble because she's running with a ball in her mouth and therefor cannot nip at the other dog when she gets overly excited. Tennis balls are lucky to last one play session with these guys, just for comparison purposes. When throwing the regular size, the ball occasionally went right through our backyard (chain link aka "hurricane") fence -- even though they shouldn't quite fit. The size large balls bounce off the fence; our only problem now is when one of the dogs does a soccer style head-butt and knocks the ball over the fence that way. After 2 years, one ball has a split down the side and two are discolored because they were left outside when we couldn't locate them after a play session. Overall I like these very much and appreciate how well they've held up.
